This is the pasta that’s taken social media by storm with over 45 million views worldwide! My Creamy Tomato One Pan Pasta! Rich, flavorful, and incredibly simple to make, this dish proves that weeknight dinners can be both easy and crave-worthy. With a unique cooking method that locks in flavor, this pasta is as fun to make as it is delicious to eat.
The Secret Cooking Method
What makes this recipe stand out is the way the pasta is cooked. Instead of boiling it in water, the pasta is first toasted in a fry pan, which gives it a nutty depth of flavor. Then, it’s simmered directly in chicken broth instead of plain water, allowing every strand to soak up extra richness. Once the pasta is perfectly al dente, it’s finished with cream for a silky, luscious sauce.
Customizable Toppings
The base of this creamy tomato pasta is delicious on its own, but the real fun comes in customizing the toppings. You can add sautéed spinach, roasted mushrooms, grilled chicken, or even shrimp for extra protein. Keep it simple with fresh basil and Parmesan, or try a spicy kick with red pepper flakes. The possibilities are endless, and once you’ve mastered the method, you’ll be able to create countless variations.
Dairy-Free or Classic – Your Choice
In the video, I used Country Crock Dairy Free Heavy Whipping Cream, but this recipe works with any cream you prefer. Whether you stick to a traditional heavy cream or opt for a dairy-free version, the end result is always a silky, velvety sauce that clings beautifully to the pasta.
The Right Pan Makes a Difference
Since this is a one-pan recipe, using the right cookware is important. I recommend the Caraway Nonstick Ceramic 10.5-inch Fry Pan (around $95 on Amazon), which is the one I use in almost all of my videos. It ensures the pasta cooks evenly without sticking, making the whole process seamless.
A Viral Favorite for a Reason
It’s no surprise this Viral Creamy Tomato One Pan Pasta has earned over 45 million views—between its creamy sauce, rich flavor, and easy method, it’s a recipe worth keeping on repeat. Perfect for busy weeknights, dinner with friends, or when you just want something comforting and delicious, this pasta will quickly become one of your go-to meals.
How to Store and Reheat Creamy Tomato One Pan Pasta
- Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
- Reheating: Warm gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of broth, cream, or milk to bring back the silky texture. If microwaving, reheat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
- Freezer: Freezing is not recommended for cream-based pastas, as the sauce can separate. This dish is best enjoyed fresh or refrigerated.
Troubleshooting Tips for Perfect Pasta
- Pasta Too Mushy: This usually means it cooked a little too long. Check for doneness a few minutes early and remove from heat as soon as the pasta is al dente.
- Sauce Too Thin: Let the pasta simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes, or stir in a little extra Parmesan or cream to thicken.
- Sauce Too Thick: Add a splash of reserved broth or cream until you reach the desired consistency.
- Burning or Sticking: Always use a good nonstick or ceramic pan, like the Caraway Nonstick Ceramic Fry Pan, and stir occasionally while cooking.
- Not Enough Flavor: Be generous with salt and seasonings! Fresh basil, red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of olive oil can really elevate the final dish.
